How can I post an item?

In the spirit of giving, YOUR FIRST POST TO THE GROUP SHOULD BE AN OFFER. No offer is too small!

Everything posted must be free. When you want to OFFER something - whether it's a chair, fax machine, piano or an old door, simply send an email to your group.

Maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself? Post a WANTED message and a group member may just have what you're looking for. Alert the group with a follow-up RECEIVED email.

After that it is up to the giver to decide who receives the gift from the responses only they receive and to set up a collection time, and finally post an item TAKEN message.

How can I post an item? ( Use this example format to post an item to your group )
There are numerous ways to post an item on Lambeth Freegive. You must first subscribe. How to subscribe to Lambeth Freegive Yahoo Group. Go to Lambeth Freegive Yahoo Group homepage by clicking on (Visit the main Lambeth Freegive Yahoo! Group page) and click `Join this Group`. You will be asked to `sign in` using your `Yahoo ID` and password. If you don't yet have a Yahoo ID, you should `Sign Up` which takes just a few seconds. Once you have signed in to Yahoo, you should automatically see the `Join this Group` page. Simply follow the on screen instructions, click `Join` and that is it. Have a good read through our rules and then use one of the following message posting methods:

By email to lambethfreegive@yahoogroups.com , or

By logging into Lambeth Freegive Yahoo Group homepage (Visit the main Lambeth Freegive Yahoo! Group page) and then click on the Post link in the left hand navigation bar on Lambeth Freegive Yahoo Group homepage and post message form like the one below should appear.

After you've signed in, go to the group you wish to post to, and click Post. Write your message, and then click Send button. Messages will be rejected if this format is not followed. Please use the following subject line format when posting messages:

How it works:

You have a television or clothes or furniture or printer or toys you were going to throw out.

You join your local Freegive group.

You post an offer on your local Freegive group.

People respond to you if they are interested.

You pick a recipient and arrange for them to collect the item.

They take the item away.

You let your local freegive group know that the item is no longer available by posting an item TAKEN message to the group.

If you need an item you can request one on your local freegive group in the same way by posting an item WANTED message to the group and if someone has what you're looking for they will contact you to offer it.

Tips on how to post an item on your local freegive group:

When making an offer, write "offer" in the subject line first.

Don't put your phone number in it or it will ring off the hook.

Ask individuals to email you with their phone number.

It's a first-come, serve type of thing.

Once your item is gone, make another posting that says it's gone.

Always state what area you live in. People need to know whether they have the means to get to your place to pick up the item. (Please do not put your full address).

OFFER: Item(s) Example: (I have a sofa to give-away - Brixton Road, London, SW9)

TAKEN: Item(s) Example: (Sofa has been gone/claimed/picked up - Brixton Road, London, SW9)

WANTED: Item(s) Example: (I need a sofa - Brixton Road, London, SW9)

RECEIVED: Item(s) Example: (Thanks, I got the sofa I needed)

Please Note: Messages will be rejected if the above format is not followed.
